Saturday Night Special by bulldogjeff
Project Log: Here
Large, unusual cases often make for great modding projects, and Thermaltake's Mozart TX case is no exception. Forum user bulldogjeff clearly had the same idea when he snapped up the case in question last month, and got straight down to some classic modding. It's proved a hit on our forums too - after just a couple of weeks the thread is already running into 13 pages, and has had nearly 14,000 views.
The Mozart is an immense tower case with a cavernous interior, which presents plenty of opportunities to the eagle-eyed modder. In bulldogjeff's own words, he's going to
'mod the hell out of it. Every panel will be getting chopped up, some bits taken away and some added, along with a bit of water cooling.'
The work began by making way for a substantial water-cooling system, with the rear panel marked up ready for cutting to make room for two radiators. In the above-right image you can see a grille for the rear section; one of numerous fan vents that will feature in the case to hide its 17 fans.
Once the panels were cut, the next task was the laborious job of sanding and priming them, ready for the final coat. We get a good shot here of the frame of the case after it's been modded to fit another radiator in the front.
These images really caught our attention - the paint job looks fantastic and gives the Thermaltake case a much-needed new lease of life.
We can't wait to see how Saturday Night Special turns out, and if it's your favourite project this month, then head over to our
forum to vote for it.
